Jackson, Arvie Nab Latest Women’s Indoor Track & Field Honors

first_imgFRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State’s Natashia Jackson and McNeese’s Alanna Arvie are the Southland Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.Jackson claims her second weekly honor of the season after an impressive weekend for the Lady Demons at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The senior set a Southland record in the 400-meter race with a 53.65 finish and fifth-place honors. She also took bronze in the 200m dash with a 23.98 before closing out the weekend as a leg of the Lady Demons’ 4x400m relay squad.Arvie stamped a pair of first-place finishes in the shot put and weight throw events at the Samford Bulldog Invite in Birmingham, Ala., over the weekend. Her double gold-medal performance was highlighted by a program record in the shot put with a 50-09.5 (15.48m) and a 64-11.25 (19.79m) mark in the weight throw.
