“Da Bears” Foil Packers’ Historic Night

first_imgGREEN BAY, WI – The Thanksgiving Day stage was set. It was the night the Green Bay Packers were to retire Number 4 – the numeral donned by their iconic quarterback, Brett Favre. To make the evening extra-special, the aiiling Bart Starr, who led the Packers to wins in the first two Super Bowls ever, fought back from illness to make it to Lambeau Field- the Packers’ home – in order to give Favre a warm embrace. Moreover, Favre received a nod from current Packers’ QB sensation Aaron Rodgers, as the Lambeau fans wildly cheered the team’s two most recent superstars’ hug.So when the first quarter ended with the Packers leading their historic rivals, the Chicago Bears 7-0 courtesy of a 25-yard pass from Rodgers to running back Eddie Lacey, the script was on track.Except, someone forgot to tell the Bears they were supposed to roll over and be the Packers’ patsies. In a solid performance by the Bears’ underrated defense, and a consistent night by quarterback Jay Cutler, the Bears held off Rodgers and the Pack the rest of the way en route to a 17-13 upset.Chicago’s versatile running back Michael Forte made a notable if unspectacular return, keeping the Bears in the game, as rookie RB Jeremy Langford continued his stellar debut season by scoring a touchdown.Rodgers brought the Pack back in the final seconds, and it all came down to the final play – but Rodgers could  not covert. The Bears held on to win 17-13 and claim an important stake in the two teams’ iconic rivalry, on the marquee Thanksgiving Day stage. This legendary battle will endure, but the 2015 contest goes to the team from the Windy City.  Well done, Bears.
