One of the rare opportunities to see funk supergroups came at the Bayou Rendezvous, a charitable fundraiser for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic at New Orleans’ Howlin’ Wolf last Friday night. Celebrating its 15th year, the event producers, as per usual, used Bayou Rendezvous to help out worthy local charities while simultaneously hosting some amazing music.Eric Krasno (Lettuce/Soulive), Nick Daniels III (Dumpstaphunk/Neville Brothers), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), Ian Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Alvin Ford Jr., Ryan Zoidis (Lettuce), and Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews) were joined by The Shady Horns (Lettuce), Wil Blades, Khris Royal (Dark Matter) and The Nth Power‘s Nikki Glaspie for a mind-blowing and smile-inducing set of creamy funk goodness under the Dr. Klaw battle flag. That these all-stars were together at all was a gift, but the fact that they had gathered to help their own face the pending heath care crisis made the night even more important. The 15th Annual Bayou Rendezvous Takes Over The Howlin’ Wolf For Jazz Fest [Photos]We’ve already seen some stellar photos from that night, but thanks to our own Rex Thomson, we are going to get to watch and listen to some of the magic that took place at this wonderful charity event. We hope you enjoy the videos to follow and that you consider helping the very worthy cause at the heart of the matter. Few cities are as densely populated by and as in-tune with their musician population as New Orleans. As such, the city has long recognized the need to help financially support the many players who face health care issues that can easily fall through the ever widening cracks in the system. So, while you enjoy these clips and the ones to come from the Monophonics and the Bayou Rendezvous All-Stars, please consider helping support the folks trying to make sure the music doesn’t stop when the players find themselves turned away from needed aid. You can reach out and donate to the New Orleans Musician’ Clinic here, and watch some stellar videos from the event below! Enjoy![Photo courtesy of Chad Anderson]Dr. Klaw‘
“Since the start of the transfer window, we have resolutely turned down offers from another Premier League football club for our player. “John is not for sale and he will remain a highly valued member of our first team squad.” Toffees manager Martinez has insisted he has “great plans” for centre-back Stones. A determined Martinez has been adamant throughout the saga of three bids from Chelsea, the last for £30million, that the defender is not for sale and he is maintaining that position. Despite Stones asking to leave the Toffees boss is confident he can not only keep hold of a prized asset but persuade the player he has a vital role to play going forward. “During this tough period we are going to be there for him,” he said. “We have great ambition, desire and great plans for John. We want to be a winning team and we need to keep our best performers and clearly John is big part of our future. “We are a big football club with an incredible tradition and we will carry on giving him everything we can. Everton have rejected a transfer request from wantaway defender John Stones. Press Association “As a young man you are under massive pressure and you are going to get influences. “We are going to look after John. We are going to understand him.” Martinez has long since railed against a situation which allows the transfer window and its fevered speculation to drag on for a whole month once teams have returned to competitive action. He has some sympathy for the players caught in the middle and directed his anger at the governing bodies who allow it to continue to the detriment of those involved. “There is a bigger example for the football authorities. Up and down the country every dressing room has similar situations,” he added. “Are we going to end up with players feeling bad about themselves, not to be proud of representing their colours? “It becomes an unsustainable position. It needs to be changed. The players are human and human beings deserve the time to think about the next step of their careers – but that cannot be done when there is an official game. “I feel let down by the football authorities in this position. We should look after our players and we will make sure we will look after John. “Going away from John’s situation we have to understand when the window is open and there are official games we need to give some value to contracts. “We have contracts for players when they are injured but when they are well they can be moved around. “We need to bring a more serious touch to being a part of the football club and making sure contracts are important in order to fulfil your potential at a club and have a good future.” While Stones had one of his worst games for some time against his former club the performance of half-time substitute Gerard Deulofeu, in particular, was one of the major positives at Oakwell. The Catalan, also 21, needed time to adjust during his loan spell at Goodison the season before last but having signed permanently from Barcelona in the summer he showed he has already progressed as a player. “His pace and penetration and ability in a one v one situation was probably something that inspired our second-half performance,” said Martinez. “At the end it was quite tough for him as it was not planned for him to play any more than 45 minutes but he adapted well and he can only benefit from that. It was a really good display.” The 21-year-old’s request, which was submitted on Tuesday, was rejected by manager Roberto Martinez on Thursday morning before the club released a statement by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright. Kenwright said in the statement on the club’s official website: “Everton Football Club has rejected a transfer request from John Stones.

As a poker player, Duthie has over $3.2 million in live tournament winnings and won the inaugural Poker Million in 2000. Originally a TV director, he founded the EPT in 2004.Duthie commented: “I have been impressed with the progress of partypoker and in particular the number of trusted, experienced and well respected individuals and organisations that have chosen to put their support behind the partypoker brand.“I believe there is a gap in the market for an operator whose primary focus is poker and who will listen to, and work with, the poker community, as this was key to the growth and success of the EPT.“I still love the game just as much as the first time I saw my first flop, and I believe this passion will help partypoker LIVE become the largest and most fun poker tour in the world. I plan to enjoy myself immensely working with and meeting old friends.”Tom Waters, MD of partypoker, added: “We are thrilled that John has joined us at the beginning of this journey. Very few people in the world have made such a significant contribution to poker and his experience, relationships and understanding of players will be a huge asset to us.“Our guarantees are ambitious, but our marketing strategy is to provide value to players instead of investing money outside of the poker community. We are confident that with John’s guidance we can optimise this strategy for the benefit of the live poker market.“partypoker LIVE will offer a minimum of 5M GTD for 5K buy-in, 1M GTD for 1K buy-in and 500K GTD for 200 buy-in and we plan to visit as many continents and countries as possible.
